{"id":3567,"date":"2021-10-19T15:56:52","date_gmt":"2021-10-19T15:56:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/visitborgomanero.it\/isola-dei-pescatori-or-isola-superiore\/"},"modified":"2021-10-19T15:56:52","modified_gmt":"2021-10-19T15:56:52","slug":"isola-dei-pescatori-or-isola-superiore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.visitborgomanero.it\/en\/isola-dei-pescatori-or-isola-superiore\/","title":{"rendered":"Isola dei Pescatori or Isola Superiore"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A small village with a small square, the pointed bell tower of the <strong>San Vittore Church<\/strong>, and narrow winding passageways leading to the promenade on the northern end of the island.<\/p>\n<p>Discover <strong>Isola dei Pescatori<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<h3>Location<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Isola Superiore<\/strong>, also known as <strong>Isola dei Pescatori<\/strong> (Fishermen&#8217;s Island) because of the historical working activity of its inhabitants, is located further north than Isola Bella, about &#8230; km away from Borgomanero.<\/p>\n<p>With a width of 100 metres and a length of 350 metres, Isola dei Pescatori is the smallest of the Borromean Islands (Isola Madre is the largest).<\/p>\n<h3>Highlights<\/h3>\n<p>It is home to a small village of fifty inhabitants, mostly fishermen and it is the only Borromean Island to be inhabited all year round.<\/p>\n<p>The visit to <strong>San Vittore Church <\/strong>is a must<strong>.<\/strong> The church was declared a national monument and still has its original 11th-century apse. It houses a 16th-century fresco of St Agatha, some 17th-century paintings and wooden busts of the apostles Peter and Andrew, the patron saints of fishermen.<\/p>\n<p>The atmosphere is particularly charming in the evening when the entire island is enveloped in harmonious lighting that transforms it into a real living picture, mirrored in the gentle waters of Lake Maggiore.<\/p>\n<p>Guests can stop for dinner and enjoy the fresh fruits of a day&#8217;s fishing in one of the many restaurants overlooking the lake.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A small village with a small square, the pointed bell tower of the San Vittore Church, and narrow winding passageways leading to the promenade on the northern end of the island.
