{"id":3557,"date":"2021-10-27T11:49:41","date_gmt":"2021-10-27T11:49:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/visitborgomanero.it\/monte-ghiffa-nature-reserve\/"},"modified":"2021-10-27T11:49:41","modified_gmt":"2021-10-27T11:49:41","slug":"monte-ghiffa-nature-reserve","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.visitborgomanero.it\/en\/monte-ghiffa-nature-reserve\/","title":{"rendered":"Monte Ghiffa Nature Reserve"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Where <strong>spirituality<\/strong> and <strong>love for nature<\/strong> come together in a single itinerary.<\/p>\n<h3>The Reserve and its Flora<\/h3>\n<p>About an hour&#8217;s drive from Borgomanero, the reserve extends from the <strong>Sacred Mount of Ghiffa<\/strong> to the slopes of <strong>Mount Cargiago<\/strong>, covering an area of almost 200 hectares of woodland.<\/p>\n<p>It is characterised by lush and fertile vegetation: a mixed broadleaf <strong>forest<\/strong> with predominantly <strong>chestnut<\/strong> coppice; there are also <strong>maples, ash trees, alders, and birches<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>On the slope facing the lake, visitors walk among <strong>conifers<\/strong> and <strong>exotic broadleaf trees<\/strong>: they can see <strong>strobe pines<\/strong>, <strong>deodar cedars,<\/strong> and <strong>American oaks<\/strong>.<br \/>\nThe opposite, more gently rolling slope features <strong>pastures<\/strong> and <strong>cultivated land<\/strong>. <strong>Birch, aspen, ash, and maple<\/strong> grow here, as well as <strong>holly<\/strong> and <strong>yew<\/strong>. <strong>Black alder<\/strong> and <strong>white alder<\/strong> prevail in the wetter areas.<\/p>\n<p>The Sacred Mount of Ghiffa<\/p>\n<p>Immerse yourself in the <strong>Nature Reserve<\/strong> and arrive at the <strong>Sacred Mount of Ghiffa<\/strong>, which is almost hidden, as if it were naturally part of the lake and the woods that surround it.<\/p>\n<p>This <strong>Baroque complex<\/strong> is dedicated to the Holy Trinity and consists of a <strong>sanctuary<\/strong>, <strong>three chapels,<\/strong> and a <strong>portico<\/strong> known as the <strong>Via Crucis<\/strong>. The chapels are dedicated to the <strong>Virgin Mary<\/strong>, <strong>St John the Baptist,<\/strong> and <strong>Abraham<\/strong> respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The Nature Reserve of Sacred Mount of Ghiffa was established by the Piedmont Region in 1987 and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2003.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Where spirituality and love for nature come together in a single itinerary.
